Son, what have you done?

The plot of this film is based on a real event. A man named Mark Yavorsky, played by Michael Shannon (nominated for Oscar Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Revolutionary Road"), who lives in San Diego, brutally killed his mother with a knife in a series of unexplainable and bizarre events that occurred. The story gets even more eerie because Yavorsky had once acted in the play "Oedipus," which is well-known as a Greek tragedy about patricide and incest. Herzog stated: "I've always wanted to make a horror movie, but I didn't want it to be about bloody axes and chains. Instead, I hope the audience can feel an inexplicable fear from it."
