"Queen Seondeok" tells the story of Princess Dae-Man (played by Lee Yo Won), who was abandoned as a child due to an ominous prophecy. Through relentless effort and navigating palace power struggles, she grows to become the first queen of Silla, Queen Seondeok.
In the situation where Mi-Seok (played by Ko Hyun Jung) holds great power in the palace, King Jinpyeong and Lady Maya give birth to twin daughters. However, for the king, giving birth to twins is considered highly inauspicious, carrying the omen of "the sacred bone man's end." Out of necessity, King Jinpyeong sends someone to take the younger daughter Dae-Man away, but Mi-Seok sends her people to secretly assassinate her. At a critical moment, Dae-Man is saved by the legendary Hwarang figure Moon-woo, who devises a plan and entrusts her to King Jinpyeong’s maid Cho-hwa for raising. Cho-hwa takes Dae-Man to the desert regions of China and raises her in a small inn. Dae-Man's greatest enemy, Mi-Seok, uses her exceptional beauty to gain the favor of King Jinsaeng and thus control the palace power. Ambitious, after King Jinsaeng's death, she installs the young King Jinpyeong on the throne. After King Jinpyeong's wife gives birth to twin daughters, Mi-Seok plans to use their lives to threaten him and directly seize royal power. Unexpectedly, Moon-woo and Cho-hwa save Dae-Man, disrupting her plans. Mi-Seok, wielding great power, does not abandon her pursuit of the throne and plots to have her husband ascend it. Thus, she views Dae-Man's twin sister Princess Tae-Min (played by Park Yi Jin) as a thorn in her side. Under Mi-Seok's authority, Princess Tae-Min, with extraordinary wisdom and sharp judgment, does not easily reveal her true nature but always displays the leadership qualities of a princess at crucial moments. Although Princess Tae-Min marries Kim Yon-seo (played by Park Jung Cheol) and has a son Kim Choon-chu (played by Yoo Seung Ho), she develops feelings for Kim Yu-sin (played by Um Tae Woong) who once saved her life. The renowned Silla general Kim Yu-sin, possessing remarkable martial arts skills, accidentally saves Princess Tae-Min from an assassination attempt by Mi-Seok's confidants. Arranged by Princess Tae-Min, he meets Dae-Man. While helping Princess Dae-Man achieve the grand dream of unifying the three kingdoms, Kim Yu-sin develops feelings for Dae-Man and becomes her loyal supporter. With Kim Yu-sin's help, Princess Dae-Man gradually dismantles Mi-Seok's power base and ascends to the throne as the first queen of Silla.
