Hunan Economic Television's self-produced contemporary emotional drama "This Life" is a moving and touching play filled with a strong "Xiang spicy" flavor. It premiered on June 8th at ten o'clock in the evening on Hunan Economic Television's original theater.

Plot Summary:

The cast of "This Life" is quite unique, half professional actors and half hosts from various channels of Hunan Television, including Hunan Economic Television's host KK, Golden Eagle Cartoon Satellite Channel's E Brother (Wang Dongyue), Xiaodouzi (Jiang Yuchen), Hunan Economic Television's leading lady Bin Jie, and Urban Channel's Ya Li. The director of Economic Television Drama Production Center, Xiao Guanghui, said: "In future episodes, Wang Han, Ma Ke, Peng Yu, Li Hao, and others may also appear."

The plot of "This Life" unfolds along two threads: one is the supermarket competition, supposedly rewritten based on the competition among several well-known supermarkets in Hunan; the other thread revolves around the secret history of grievances of the Chen family, which rose to prominence by selling lard, and this story is also based on a real incident in Hunan where a mother and daughter were simultaneously pregnant, leading to a case of mistaken identity.

Chen Jiahao, who once made his living in Kuitan Village by collecting dead pigs and waste materials like intestines to boil lard, owns his own enterprise 24 years later—the Family-Mart Supermarket Chain. Chen Jiahao quickly becomes a well-known rich person in the area. Like most tycoons today, Chen Jiahao decides to enter the real estate industry, aiming to solve the problem of being a "peasant nouveau riche" while choosing an heir among his two sons. The eldest son, Chen Haofu, is unskilled, and the second son, Chen Haotian, though capable of handling things independently, was born to his second wife, Mei Qing. Just as he aggressively enters the southern city commercial district, Liang Jian appears. He is the man that Mei Qing's daughter from her previous marriage, Wang Xiaofan, secretly loves and has a son with.
