"Prison Break" (also translated as "The Escape") is a suspense drama series aired by the American Fox Network. The show premiered nationwide in the U.S. on August 29, 2005, and concluded its first season on May 15. The second season began airing on August 21, 2006.

The Joliet Prison, during its operation from 1858 to 2002, held over 1,300 prisoners at its peak capacity. It has now been decommissioned and is primarily used as a location for filming movies and TV shows.
