On the afternoon of September 17th, Beijing Zhengwang Consulting Corporation (China IntelliConsulting Corporation) released the 2007 CIC China Search Engine Market Research Report. The research results show that compared to the same time last year, Baidu's market share among search engine users in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou continues to rise; Google/Google’s share has rebounded after hitting bottom in these three places; Yahoo and Sogou continue to shrink, indicating that the Chinese search engine market is becoming more concentrated.
According to the survey results from Zhengwang Consulting, based on the proportion of primary search engine users, Baidu's user market share in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou is 69.5%, Google/Google’s is 23.0%, while Yahoo (including 3721) and Sogou are 2.3% and 1.8%, respectively.
Based on historical comparisons formed by the investigation results conducted every six months by Zhengwang Consulting, Baidu's market share increased by 7.6 and 0.5 percentage points respectively compared to one year ago (September 2006) and six months ago (March 2007); Google/Google’s market share decreased by 1.1 percentage points compared to one year ago, but increased by 1.4 percentage points compared to six months ago, indicating that Google/Google has already hit bottom and started to rebound.
