According to Associate Professor Hou Danhui, a clinical neuropsychology expert in the Department of Neurology at Ha Medical University Fourth Hospital, among 30% of the insomnia population, sleep disorders for 70-80% of them are caused by psychological and emotional factors. Several decades ago, people who were prone to sleep disorders were above 45 years old, but now, the incidence has increased to varying degrees among people from teenagers in junior high school and senior high school to those in their seventies or eighties.
Organic diseases, mood swings, anxiety, irregular sleep patterns etc. can all lead to sleep disorders. Patients with organic disease should be treated for the disease first and then have their sleep adjusted for radical cure. Those who fall ill due to psychology and emotions should adjust their mentality and daily routine, develop healthy lifestyles to regulate sleep for fundamental treatment. Sleep time should not be too long or too short, and one should not sleep at irregular times.
