Kidney deficiency refers to kidney vacuity, which can generally be divided into kidney yin vacuity, kidney yang vacuity, and both kidney yin and yang vacuity.
During the period of kidney deficiency, most patients experience symptoms such as mental lethargy, soreness and pain in the lower back, physical weakness, poor sleep (including insomnia, vivid dreams, or excessive sleepiness), and reduced sexual function. When there is kidney yin vacuity, symptoms may include nocturnal emission, frequent urination or urine like grease, dizziness, tinnitus, and in severe cases, deafness, dry mouth, night sweats, low-grade fever, red cheeks, and heat in the palms and soles. Kidney yang vacuity may cause soreness and pain in the lower back, reduced sexual desire, involuntary seminal emission, premature ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction.
