The film is adapted from the reportage "On the Edge of Life and Death", which won the first prize of Lu Xun Literature Award. Based on real events, it artistically reproduces the story of a certain prison in our country that transferred more than ten thousand prisoners under extremely difficult conditions when it was submerged by an extremely large flood, without any escape or death, causing a sensation internationally.

The film focuses on the life-and-death choices of three prisoners who got separated during the transfer and one police officer. Retired prison guard Old Ma was entrusted with the dangerous mission of escorting three stubborn prisoners for transfer when the super flood struck.
