Jason (played by Michael A. Angarano) is probably the biggest kung fu movie collector in the world, aside from Quentin Tarantino. One summer day, this 17-year-old boy rides his bike to a pawn shop in Boston's Chinatown, searching for valuable Chinese kung fu films. However, he always encounters trouble when passing through an alley near his house because Jason is often targeted by a group of hoodlums and frequently bullied. Jason is highly skilled at video games and knows a great deal about kung fu movies. He always wishes that he could become a kung fu master too. However, Mr. Ho, the owner of the pawn shop, believes that Jason is not cut out for it; he doesn't even know what kung fu truly is.

One day, Jason accidentally discovers a mysterious golden cudgel in the pawn shop, which leads him through the "door without a door" to ancient China! He finds himself right in the middle of an astonishing prophecy: a messenger must return the legendary weapon to its rightful owner, thereby rescuing the Monkey King who has been trapped in stone for five hundred years...
