The air-cooled chiller is a type of chiller that cools water to a certain temperature through the compressor of the chiller to enhance the cooling of molds or machines. If the air-cooled chiller is used as a single unit, its heat dissipation device is an internal fan, and it mainly consists of three interconnected systems: refrigerant circulation system, water circulation system, and electrical automatic control system. Air-cooled chillers can be used in small systems, but most large units are water-cooled systems. The advantage of water-cooling is that in the initial investment, just for the main unit, it indeed costs less than air-cooling. However, if you add the cost of cooling towers, machine rooms, and electronic water treatment instruments, the cost difference isn't significant. After long-term operation, the cooling efficiency of water-cooled units may decrease relatively, while air-cooled units will not experience such a reduction in cooling efficiency. The biggest advantage of air-cooled chillers is that they use air cooling, which eliminates the need for a cooling water system, including cooling towers, cooling water pumps, and piping systems, thus saving on those expenses. Moreover, it can avoid the problem of scale formation in the condenser and pipe blockage in areas with poor water quality. Especially under the current environmental protection and energy-saving trend, it also conserves water resources. The air-cooled chiller is currently the most economical and simple type of chiller in terms of maintenance and repair among all chilled water air conditioning equipment products. Therefore, the application of air-cooled chillers should be promoted to replace water-cooled chillers.
