Shanghai is one of the key areas for domestic passing of Beijing Olympic torch. The Shanghai passing will last for two days on May 20 and May 21, 2008 respectively, with a total of 10 hours each day; there are 416 torchbearers in the Shanghai torch relay, each limited to running 200 meters, covering a total distance of about 83 kilometers in two days (an average of 41.5 kilometers per day); ignition ceremony and fire-receiving celebration events will be held every day. The Olympic torch relay in Shanghai will pass through all districts and counties of the city, using human running and vehicle transportation to display Shanghai, allowing people in the whole city to experience the Olympics, participate in the Olympics, and contribute to the Olympics.
