Plot of the Confucius Movie: In the late Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the Zhou Dynasty that had stood for hundreds of years was on the verge of collapse. After the Zhou defeated the Shang, King Cheng of Zhou enfeoffed Weizi Qi, the illegitimate elder brother of King Zhou of Shang and a loyal minister of the Shang Dynasty, in Song. The capital was established in Shangqiu (now around Shangqiu, Henan). After Weizi Qi's death, his younger brother Weizhong took the throne, and Weizhong became the ancestor of Confucius. Confucius' sixth-generation ancestor was Kongfu Jia, who was a doctor in the state of Song and served as the Grand Marshal. He was killed in a palace coup. Since Kongfu Jia, his descendants began to take Kong as their surname. His great-grandfather Kong Fangshu fled from Song to Lu to escape internal strife in Song. In 551 BC (the twenty-second year of Duke Xiang of Lu), Confucius was born in Changping Township of Zhouyi in the State of Lu. Because his parents prayed to Mount Niqiu for a son, he was named Qiu and styled Zhongni. When Confucius was three years old, Shuliang He passed away, and Confucius and his mother were not accepted by Shi (Shuliang He's official wife), so Confucius' mother Yan Zhengzai had to move with Confucius and Meng Pi to Que Li in Qufu, living a hard life. When Confucius was seventeen years old, his mother Yan Zhengzai passed away, and he mourned for three years.

At nineteen, Confucius married the daughter of the Qi Guan family from the State of Song. A year later, Qi Guan gave birth to a son, and Duke Zhao of Lu sent someone with a carp to congratulate him. Confucius felt greatly honored, so he named his son Li and styled him Bo Yu. In the tenth year of Duke Ai of Lu (485 BC), Confucius' wife Qi Guan passed away.
