BuddyPress, a WordPress derivative, to be released by the end of the year

During an interview at The Start Conference, Matt Mullenweg, the founder of WordPress (interview record), announced that BuddyPress, a derivative product of WordPress, will be released by the end of the year. BuddyPress is built on the multi-user version of WordPress and can be used to create social networking sites.
