At the beginning of the century, on the South Asian subcontinent, Danny DeVito (Sean Connery) and Peachy Carwin (Michael Caine) were a pair of old soldiers in the British Indian Army. After completing their military service, they did not immediately return to Britain but instead hatched an ambitious plan. They wanted to travel through the Khyber Pass to the ancient kingdom of Kafiristan. With their rich combat experience, powerful rifles, and their own intelligence, they planned to overcome the ignorance of the local natives, become the chiefs of the native tribes, then unify the various tribes, ultimately making themselves kings of the region. Thus, the two set off on their journey. In the vast land of the Kingdom of Kafiristan, these two strangers seemed like mere passers-by, but soon fortune smiled upon them. In a fierce battle where they were outnumbered, the rifles proved highly effective. Additionally, when the natives' arrows struck Danny's chest without causing any harm (in reality, the bullet chain in front of his chest had blocked the arrowheads), the natives believed Danny was a divine being sent from heaven. They held him in great awe and reverence. The chief also hoped that Danny would become the king here to rule this land. Initially, the local holy monks opposed crowning Danny as king; they thought this outsider could not be a deity. However, during a dispute with Danny, they saw the Buddha pendant hanging from his chest and thus also regarded Danny as a deity. Consequently, Danny smoothly became the king of Kafiristan.
