The Shaw Brothers Studio has begun filming *Seventy-Two Tenants*, paying tribute to the classic film of many years ago. Yesterday, the opening ceremony was held at Television City with a powerful cast lineup. Besides Andy Lau and Maggie Cheung, Eric Tsang, who serves as both producer, director, and actor, also joined. The young actors and actresses from TVB came in full force. Joey Yung's imitation of "Big Sister" Fanny Chan as the Shanghai Granny was truly impressive in both form and spirit.
Yesterday, all the actors gathered at TVB's period drama street set, dressed in nostalgic costumes. Among them were Andy Lau,祖蓝 Wong, Russell Tse, David Lu, Ching Yi Zheng, Tina Tang, Mark Sim, Charmaine Sheh, Bosco Wong, Fiona Sit, and others. Other actors involved in the production include Raymond Lam, Katherine Chan, Felix Wong, and Ron Ng. Among them, Joey Yung’s impersonation of Fanny Chan as the Shanghai Granny was the most spot-on. Charmaine Sheh, playing the role of the landlady, exuded flirtatious charm. During the group photo session, she playfully laid on a car, creating a very amusing scene.
Eric Tsang, who serves as director, producer, and actor for this project, mentioned that when he initially approached Andy Lau for the role, Lau wanted to decline. However, after much persuasion and the added factor of the movie being filmed in Hong Kong, Lau finally agreed. Tsang humorously remarked that although Lau appears serious, he is actually quite stingy, a trait similar to the sharp and critical nature of the small character roles in the film.
