My Only begins with a blue Cadillac sedan driving on the streets of New York, with no indication that the people in the car are just out for a drive. The driver, a beautiful businesswoman named Annie DeVanna Cacos, is accompanied by her two passengers, her sons George and Robbie. This time, they are moving. In fact, Annie has just left her husband, Dunn, the head of a social organization, because she has just discovered that Dunn has another woman on the side. It's the year when feminism is just beginning to take off in the United States. At 37 years old, Annie wants to take her children to pursue a better life and greater wealth. Leaving her husband, Annie doesn't seem sad; she even feels this should have been done ten years ago. But as their escape stretches on, Annie discovers that the outside world isn't so welcoming. Scammers, drunks, gamblers, and playboys are everywhere. After a few romantic encounters with men, Annie, wanting to settle down, finds several schools for her children that aren't satisfactory to her. Meanwhile, those romances built on passion become precarious. As the journey unfolds, Annie's children establish their own life goals. Her older son, George, is passionate about acting and hopes to become an actor. Her younger son, Robbie, falls in love with satirical plays and wants to become a playwright. Unable to find peace, Annie hits the road again. This journey across the entire American continent seems endless. George still naively believes his mother will soon end the trip and return to New York. When he learns that his mother plans to leave the family forever, George becomes extremely agitated. What will Annie do next? What unexpected decisions will she make?
