Clash of Aces

After the outbreak of the Civil War, Southern officer Carver, played by Nielson, set off on a killing spree with four henchmen. Gideon, portrayed by Pierce Brosnan, was on the run throughout. Their battle started from the Rocky Mountains in Nevada and ended up in the desolate desert of New Mexico. In this process, Carver's henchmen gradually died. The two protagonists were also exhausted beyond recognition. Dressed in heavy leather clothes, Gideon crouched on the snowy mountain, warming himself by the fire. When Gideon struggled to rise from the bone-chilling river and picked out the bullet from the flesh with a dagger, a primitive American society was manifested in this cruel scene, throwing a big question to the audience - what caused the grudge between the two? The director hinted that Carver's deep hatred towards Gideon might just symbolize the root cause of the outbreak of this civil war.
