Ayaka Sekiguchi and her classmate Kana Ohashi had planned to have tea together. After parting ways, as Ayaka walked home alone through the night, she suddenly heard a strange "clack-clack" sound coming from behind her. The next day, Ayaka's body was found, with only her upper half remaining. A terrifying legend began to spread among the neighborhood: after sunset, a woman without a lower body would appear on the railroad overpass, making a chilling "clack-clack" sound as she moved. She would attack her chosen targets, and even if they managed to escape temporarily, they would inevitably be killed within 72 hours.
One evening, this half-body ghost also appeared before Kana. Kana ran for her life and luckily managed to escape. However, realizing that she still faced mortal danger within the next 72 hours, Kana went to the library to research the legend in hopes of finding a way to save herself. At the library, Kana met her cousin, Rie Hirayama, who was studying psychology at the university. Rie was writing her graduation thesis on legends like this one. Rie told Kana that the half-body ghost was related to a woman who had committed suicide by train in Kako River, Hyogo Prefecture. Upon hearing this, Kana immediately dragged Rie to Kako River.
Upon arriving at the local university in Kako River and being introduced by Rie’s mentor, they met Professor Yukata and his assistant Abe, learning more detailed information. The woman who committed suicide by train was named Reiko Kashima. After her death, a memorial stone was erected at the scene. Reiko's sister visited it daily to pay respects. However, this sister died in the Great Hanshin Earthquake, and the memorial stone collapsed, leaving it forgotten. The discovery of bizarre half-body corpses began precisely from the year the earthquake occurred.
Kana and Rie believed that the memorial stone was key to solving the half-body ghost incident. They quickly rushed to its location, only to find an abandoned factory with no sign of a railway. After contacting Abe, they realized there had been a mix-up in the place name. With the 72-hour deadline rapidly approaching, could Kana escape the curse of the legend?
