During the gubernatorial election, an unfaithful murder case almost cost him his job and put his life in jeopardy. After waking up from the election fever, he found himself in a patrol car, and then discovered a corpse in a nearby ditch. He didn't want to get involved in the case. The judge advised him not to publicize it, and his wife sent him back to quiet New Orleans. However, a series of evidence indicated that this murder case was related to him. When he realized something was off, before he could take action to save himself, he was arrested by the court.
