"Headball to the Earth" tells of the miraculous success in a third-rate life and the humanitarianism of Cha Bong-geun, a player who lives in poverty but has a fiery heart. In the drama series, Cha Bong-geun is an unlucky footballer who goes through three dangerous situations without achieving any victory. Despite this, he holds the grand ambition of becoming a national team player and lives with passion. Cha Bong-geun, played by Jung Yun-ho, is a man without technique but with a fervent heart for football. The romantic story also involves Kang Haebin, portrayed by Go Ara, a girl born with everything but still wanting to create her dreams with her own hands.

Jung Yun-ho plays Cha Bong-geun, a football player with an unfortunate life who wins three championships with a firm belief and completes the impossible task of entering the national team. Go Ara plays Kang Haebin, the daughter of a ball club owner, who hopes to conceal her identity and become a respected football agent in the male-dominated world. She is captivated by an unknown footballer's spectacular shot during an industrial match. Amid constant quarrels, love sprouts.

Lee Yoon-ji plays Oh Yeon, the neighbor and classmate of Cha Bong-geun (played by Yun-ho), who only knows how to play football and often causes trouble. They have been classmates since middle school, and later, Oh Yeon works as a nutritionist in the professional football team where Cha Bong-geun is. Oh Yeon has deep feelings for Cha Bong-geun. In their constant bickering, they sense each other's subtle emotions, leading to a triangle relationship involving sports coach Kang Haebin (Go Ara) and Cha Bong-geun. Lee Yoon-ji's character Oh Yeon shares a friendship with Cha Bong-geun.
