A world-renowned surgeon moves with his son and daughter from the bustling city of New York to a snowy, remote mountain town where they've never been. The only reason for coming here is that his late wife once told him, "In my heart, it's as beautiful as paradise." In the past, when he was a world-famous surgeon, he buried himself in work to avoid his failing marriage and family. Now, he must start over and learn how to be a responsible father. Thus, one story after another unfolds in this small town: a child who lost their mother, a girl who lost her boyfriend, parents who lost their son, a sister who lost her brother, a wife who almost lost her parents and discovered her husband is gay, and a girl abandoned by her piano teacher who decides to have an abortion. It's hard to say whether the people in this small town are cold-hearted, even though they occasionally do foolish things that hurt others. Still, this place remains a town. Everyone in these stories continues living their fluctuating lives in the town; adults grow old, children grow up, life twists and turns, leaving more and more scars in their hearts.
