Didier Travolta, played by Frank Dubosc, is nearing unemployment and lives with his mother in Le Havre in northern France. His wife, residing in the UK, writes to warn him that if he can't afford the vacation this summer, he'll never see his eight-year-old son again. Troubled and dispirited, Didier drifts through days in a haze when he unexpectedly learns that François Jackson, portrayed by Gérald Palliation, the legendary town dance king, is making a comeback by opening a disco academy aimed at reviving the glory of the 1980s. The grand prize is an all-expense-paid trip for two to Australia. Though now plagued with aching backs and leg cramps, Didier Travolta, who was once the captain of the renowned Beehive Dance Team (notorious for its infamous collapse), still commands some residual respect. His former partners—one now drives a truck while the other works at a convenience store—are reunited, awakening memories of their twenty-year-old dreams that feel surreal and chaotic. To complicate matters, there's also an incompetent yet beautiful coach, Franck Navarra, played by Emmanuelle Béart. Together, they're destined not only to become formidable rivals but also the organizers' worst nightmare for the rest of their lives.
