In 1949, the year of the peaceful liberation of Beiping, Tian Zhenying, captain of the scenic art team of the Enemy Resistance Theatre Troupe under the political department of the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region, received an urgent mission. His superiors required him to lead the scenic art team in a comprehensive renovation and refurbishment of the Tiananmen Gate Tower for use in the Founding Ceremony. Due to long-term neglect from war, the dilapidation and desolation of Tiananmen far exceeded people's imagination. However, the renovation time was only a short period of days. Neither Tian Zhenying nor his teammates showed any fear or retreat. They were filled with fiery determination to fight hard for the new China and complete their tasks so they could meet Chairman Mao. They solemnly signed a military order.
From the day they entered the Tiananmen construction site, Tian Zhenying and his teammates began working under a tight countdown schedule. During this process, they encountered all sorts of unexpected difficulties and suffered multiple failures that brought them great frustration. But this group of young soldiers never lost their passion and courage. Facing challenges, they gritted their teeth and persisted, learning as they worked. Eventually, the scenic art team of the Enemy Resistance Theatre Troupe came up with an excellent design plan centered on hanging eight super-large red lanterns on the Tiananmen Gate Tower. They completed the construction project right on time before the Founding Ceremony on October 1st. On that day, Chairman Mao stood on the newly renovated Tiananmen and solemnly announced the establishment of the People's Republic of China. Tiananmen! Tiananmen! Tiananmen! Tiananmen! Tiananmen! Tiananmen!
