In the movie, the male lead Alec Guinness acts as a mild and modest gold bar transporter, who has been repeating the job of loading gold bars onto an armored car for years. However, one day he decides to rob gold worth one million pounds. His accomplices include personnel he recruited and his old friend, a engraver and manufacturer of pressing machines. They decide to hide the gold bars in small models of the Eiffel Tower once they are robbed, and then ship them to France. But when passing through customs, due to the lost gold, the customs officers are closely guarding, which makes these amateur thieves panic. As a result, six small models of the Eiffel Tower containing the gold bars are mistakenly sold to a group of British female students.
