On August 19th, Beijing time, at the Wukesong Arena, the Chinese women's basketball team secured a convincing 15-point victory over Belarus, advancing first to the top 4.

In this Olympic Games, they narrowly defeated Spain, easily overcame the Czech Republic, and swept Belarus — all three major European powers fell to the Chinese women's basketball team. The resurgence of their once dominant form has finally found reason to bloom again at the Wukesong Arena.

By halftime, they only allowed the opponent to score 25 points. Belarus had a not too low shooting percentage, but their attempts were far behind China's women's basketball team. In terms of rebound control, Belarus still demonstrated the height and strength advantages of a European team, with several second-chance efforts keeping their slim hopes alive.

The Chinese team, however, comfortably led in scores through comprehensive performances by Miao Lijie, Chen Nan, Chen Xiaoli, Bian Lan, and Sui Feifei. In their match against a top European opponent, their performance against Belarus was the most complete and stable, gradually reaching their peak, which brought them closer to the brilliance of their predecessors.

The achievement is worth celebrating, and even more exciting is the re-equipping of the Chinese women's basketball team with their once signature weapon. Chen Nan scored two points with a crossover step breakthrough, while Miao Lijie and Bian Lan showcased aerial layups and jump shots after cutting into the lane. Against European opponents who are generally slower on their feet, the quick and agile Asian style of the Chinese women's basketball team flourished like a fresh breeze.

Moreover, the three-point prowess that was once Korea's forte has arrived as expected, with nearly a 50% hit rate, an impressive feat in world competitions. And then there's free throws—China made 19 out of 23 attempts, while the opponent only had a pitiful four chances. The improvement in defense is the foundation of China's proactive play, committing only six fouls throughout the game compared to the opponent's twenty. Their fast footwork and fewer hand movements, using footwork for defense, caused the opponent to commit as many as 27 turnovers. From their crushing defeat against the U.S. team, China has at least learned how to limit the opponent's advances.

In the group stage, Belarus lost to Australia by 19 points. If Australia defeats the relatively weaker Czech Republic, China will face Mah's hometown team in the semi-finals.
