The Linux Mint team today released Linux Mint 5 Elyssa. Linux Mint 5 Elyssa is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu 8.04. It inherits many of the strengths of Ubuntu 8.04 and also adds numerous excellent features of its own, building upon the base provided by Ubuntu 8.04. Its goal is to offer a more complete, out-of-the-box user experience, which includes providing browser plugins, multimedia codecs, support for DVD playback, Java, and other components. It is fully compatible with the Ubuntu software repositories. It can be said without exaggeration that Linux Mint 5 Elyssa offers a better user experience in some areas compared to Ubuntu 8.04.
