Just a few years ago, 3D printing was little known, but in the past two years it has become one of the hottest advanced manufacturing technologies, developing rapidly in a short time. Now, HP, a traditional powerhouse in the world's printing market, has stopped being a bystander and decided to officially enter the 3D printing business.
According to foreign media reports, Meg Whitman, CEO of HP, recently stated at the Canalys Channels Forum 2013 in Thailand: "3D printing technology is still in its infancy, so we are happy to jump on this bandwagon and launch our own HP products by the middle of next year. This is a rare opportunity for both us and the development of 3D printing technology."
Although Meg Whitman did not go into detail about HP's future strategies or product details in the 3D printing business, it is certain that the company will bring some new technologies, which may lead to a reshuffling of the current industry landscape. At the same time, HP will also make efforts to reduce the cost of 3D printing and improve printing efficiency.
