The Seismological Bureau revised the magnitude of the Wenchuan earthquake to 8.0. A preliminary conclusion on the cause of the earthquake has been reached.

After detailed measurement of the seismic parameters, the China Earthquake Administration has revised the magnitude of the Wenchuan earthquake from 7.8 to 8.0.
