Neil Thompson, the head of Xbox UK, recently publicly stated in an interview with BBC News that if BD can achieve more significant success than HD DVD, we will also fully support it with X360.
Thompson told the BBC reporter: "No matter which storage format ultimately wins, we can provide corresponding solutions. But now the focus of the debate is whether you are willing to pay extra money to watch BD movies. On this issue, we want to leave the choice to consumers."
As everyone knows, Microsoft is currently one of the main supporters of the HD DVD business, and the external HD DVD player of X360 is also the cheapest product on the market with HD DVD playback function. Microsoft publicly supports HD DVD because it does not want to unconditionally support Sony's BD technology promotion. However, it has also emphasized several times that the struggle of next-generation storage formats is not what Microsoft and X360 business focus on the most. This is evident from the fact that Microsoft still hasn't launched any products using HD DVD as a storage medium.
