Introduction:

The story is set in China during the late 1930s of the Anti-Japanese War. George Hogg, a British journalist, happens to witness the brutal massacre carried out by the Japanese army in the Nanjing area. In order to inform the world of the truth of the war, he ventures deep into the battlefield for coverage. Unfortunately, he is captured by the Japanese army but later rescued by Jack Chen of the New Fourth Army. During his escape and recovery, George encounters more than 60 orphans with different personalities who survived the Japanese massacre. Despite the language barrier, George takes on the responsibility of caring for these children. As the war draws closer, to avoid these children being harmed again, George and Jack resolutely lead these more than 60 Chinese orphans along the ancient Silk Road, traversing over a thousand kilometers through hardships and perilous snow-capped mountains, reaching the edge of the desert to evade the warfare, only to face new life stories... On the set of "The Children of Huangshi," Jerry Gewege is the director's right-hand man, the "grand steward" above all others. His position in the crew is First Assistant Director, which directly translates to the first deputy director in Chinese. However, this "first deputy director" holds much more power than their counterparts domestically. This position is equivalent to a "prime minister," overseeing everything from the scene to logistics. Jerry has spent his entire career in this field, from the 1970s "Star Wars" and "Superman," to the 1980s "Elephant Man" and "Magic Hour," and then to the early 21st century "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" and "Troy," making him the world's top "first deputy director."
