"Love and Other Disasters" is the latest work by actor/director/screenwriter John Turturro. Set against the backdrop of contemporary America, the film tells, in the form of a modern musical, a story about a man's infidelity and his journey towards self-redemption.

Nick Morello (played by James Gandolfini) is an ironworker in charge of bridge construction. With a wife and three children at home, Nick has long grown tired of this monotonous life and seeks some excitement to fill the void in his soul. It is then that he meets Tula (played by Kate Winslet), a stripper at a bar. Like a long-time teetotaler encountering a fine vintage wine, Nick becomes crazily infatuated with Tula and maintains an ambiguous relationship with her behind the back of his wife and children.

Nick's wife Kitty (played by Susan Sarandon) is a virtuous and strong woman. She supplements the family income by tailoring clothes for neighbors and arduously takes care of their three children, holding up half the sky of the household.
