Christmas Surprise! Yahoo's Universal Search homepage has been revamped!
Today is a crisp Christmas day, chilly indeed! Hehe~~~ In the morning, I needed to look up some information for work, so I opened my bookmarks and clicked on the Universal Search, www.yahoo.cn. Suddenly, I noticed that the homepage of the Universal Search seemed to have been revamped. It turns out there really are surprises at Christmas.
-------------------------
Suddenly realized, hehe, let me pretend to suddenly realize this once again. I don't know how many times I've revised it. I wasn't surprised at all. From portal to search, then back to portal, then to search plus portal, then search again, then portal... If you ask what tiger changes its face the most? I would definitely answer: Yahoo.
In my opinion: The email login entry is more prominent, and the page looks tidier. If you choose the focus point, each refresh may bring different information. For example, the screenshot I took was of Zhao Wei, but after refreshing again, it might change to Elaine Yan. Sometimes there are four recommended images, making the page less monotonous.
---------------------------------------
I'm speechless, treating all Chinese Internet users as novices. "If you choose the focus point, each refresh may bring different information. For example, the screenshot I took was of Zhao Wei, but after refreshing again, it might change to Elaine Yan." Ugh~~~ And when I see the homepage, I feel even worse. What is this? Ruining the territory! Yahoo's UI, you're embarrassing! How could you design it like this? At the very least, it's not worthy of Yi-Fen Chang (Yahoo Taiwan CEO).
Next, let's take a look at some other small features:
1. Weather: By default, it should show the weather of the location determined by the IP address. You can choose a city in the submission box on the right side, submit it, and then check the weather of other cities.
--------------------------------------------------------
Funny, funny, which search engine homepage puts this kind of information? People already have good ways to get weather information, and the operating system sidebar also has it. Adding this feature again highlights the immaturity of Yahoo's designers.
The dictionary and horoscope functions are similar to before, so I won't elaborate on them.
--------------------------------------------------------
Dizzy, these are all useless features, so I won't talk about them either.
2. The almanac function: I tried it out, and now you can query the almanac for 07-09 years. I wasn't particularly familiar with or interested in this before. Since I started using Yahoo's Universal Search in October this year, I found this feature. My favorite part is the little figure in the image below, so I check it every day.
----------------------------------------------------------------
It seems like everything is mixed together. Unless our family can't afford an almanac, although I am a Baidu fan, seeing such trashy things makes me want to comment.
3. Finally, there's the email login feature. After logging in, you can directly see the number of unread emails. If you open your mailbox, regardless of whether these emails become read or not, when you return to the Universal Search homepage, the number of unread emails will be reset to 0. Only when you receive new emails again will the unread notification appear. I like this feature~~~
---------------------------------------------------
Again, treating Chinese users as novices, or maybe the blogger has nothing else to say, just a bunch of nonsense. "This feature, I like it~~~" After reading Yahoo's official blog, I deeply regret it. Someone who doesn't know better might think it's written by a post-90s kid. Yahoo's designers are at this level.
Besides the changes to the homepage, the Universal Search has also added a "People" tag. This is because since the launch of the People Search, it has received widespread praise, so they specially added this channel.
------------------------------------------------------
I don't know if this is useful. Developing a blind-friendly search like Baidu would be much better than this. There's no practical content at all, and it's full of loopholes, yet they still boast about it.
Since I started paying attention to the Universal Search in October, I often find surprises, such as People Search, Blog Search, Stock Search, and Scenic Spot Search, etc. So I increasingly enjoy using it, hoping it gets better and better. Go for it!
-------------------------------------------
Baidu Space offers more surprises in a week than you do in three months. I don't know what surprises these few trashy, unused searches can bring. Looking forward to Yahoo's next "sudden" revamp.
