"The latest statistics show that among Chinese search engines, Baidu accounts for 74.88% of website traffic, Google 13.54%, and Yahoo a mere 3.94%." On September 6th, CNZZ (China Webmasters Union) announced this data at its "Search Engine Marketing Conference."
The data sample size was 663 million, sourced from websites within CNZZ's statistical system. CNZZ, which mainly consists of vertical and personal website administrators, evaluates search engine data differently than the usual user-based website market share assessments; it places more emphasis on reflecting the ability of search engine sites to ultimately bring in traffic. The data shows that Baidu's contribution to Chinese website traffic is already over five times greater than Google's.
Previously, according to data from third-party research firm iResearch, Baidu's user market share was around 67%; however, the data published by CNZZ indicates that Baidu now accounts for nearly 80% of general website search traffic sources. There is a trend for the gap between Baidu and other domestic search engines' market shares to widen further.
