July 30th news, the authoritative research institute Gartner recently pointed out that Microsoft's new operating system, Windows Vista, will be delayed again and is not expected to be released until June 2007.

According to British media reports, Kevin Johnson, co-president of Microsoft's Platform and Services Division, stated this week at the annual analyst conference that Windows Vista would be launched early next year as originally planned, but with the condition that quality must pass muster.

In response, Gartner explicitly stated that Microsoft wouldn't release Windows Vista until at least the second quarter of next year. Gartner analysts Michael Silver, David Smith, Stephen Kleynhans, and Neil MacDonald unanimously believed that Vista won't be available until at least June next year.

Regarding this issue, Dell Chairman Bill Gates had previously indicated that there was only an 80% chance of Windows Vista being released on schedule in January next year.

Gartner also pointed out that it takes 12-18 months for an operating system to mature. Even if Vista is released on schedule in January next year, its maturity phase should be around mid-2008.

Additionally, according to a survey result from a few days ago, only 9% of businesses said they would consider deploying Vista after its release.
