According to reports from relevant departments in Panyu, local environmental protection and quality supervision departments, together with the Shibei Subdistrict Office and police station, recently carried out a joint operation. They investigated the Yuxing Oil Factory located in the Ping’er Development Zone of Shibei Street for extracting swill oil and failing to meet environmental standards. This factory had been exposed multiple times in the past, with a peak daily production of over ten tons of swill oil. However, during this investigation, the site had already been cleaned up. Yet, a strong and unpleasant smell could still be detected, and the factory was covered in grease stains. No production of edible oil was found during the investigation.

It is reported that the Zhongcun Yuxing Oil Factory of Panyu District, Guangzhou City, is located in Area A of the Ping'er Development Zone, Shibei Street, Panyu District, Guangzhou City. The factory is rented and covers an area of about 1000 square meters. It obtained its business license in 1992 and began production, mainly processing non-edible animal oils. These products are primarily used as fuel additives by soap chemical plants or ceramic factories. However, since March last year, it switched to refining swill oil, causing environmental pollution and prompting complaints from nearby residents.

It is understood that there are a total of nine small enterprises within the jurisdiction of Shibei Street that fail to meet pollution control standards. The street has taken measures to shut down all substandard enterprises. Responsible persons from relevant departments in Panyu expressed that for enterprises failing to meet environmental protection standards, immediate water and power supply cut-offs will be enforced, compelling them to cease operations. Any discovered enterprise will be abolished without leniency.
