It was reported yesterday that the Fengtai Court sentenced Yang Yulong to 8 years in prison for the crime of embezzlement of public funds. </p>

The joint company received more than 60 million yuan in land requisition compensation funds. </p>

<p> In 2008, Yang Yulong's friend Fu had financial difficulties at his building materials company and borrowed 1 million yuan from Yang Yulong. After much consideration, Yang Yulong lent the requisition compensation funds to Fu, agreeing on an annual interest rate of 3%. </p>

<p> In 2008, Liu, a friend who had known Yang Yulong for seven years, also approached Yang Yulong for a loan of 1.5 million yuan due to financial difficulties at his company, agreeing on an annual interest rate of 6% with a one-year term. In 2009, Yang Yulong lent another 2 million yuan to Liu. Later, under Yang Yulong's urging when relevant authorities investigated, Liu fully repaid the loans. </p>
<p> During the trial, Yang Yulong admitted guilt. "I just wanted to seek some benefits for the village, turning dead money into active capital," Yang Yulong repeatedly emphasized, stating that he did not gain any personal benefit but only received cigarettes and alcohol from Liu. </p>
<p> The court ruled that without collective decision-making, Yang Yulong lent 8 million yuan of requisition compensation funds to others for business use, constituting the crime of embezzlement of public funds. Considering his good attitude towards confession and the full return of the misappropriated funds and interest, the court decided to mitigate his punishment appropriately. </p>
