June 23rd, Yunnan Channel of Xinhua News Agency (Reported by Li Qian) — On June 22nd, the spokesperson's office of Kunming Public Security Bureau informed that at around 11 a.m. on June 18th, a traffic police officer was hit and injured by a small truck refusing to stop for a violation check. The vehicle fled but was later stopped by the crowd and the police. Currently, the suspect has been criminally detained.

Preliminary investigations revealed that at around 11 a.m. on June 18th, Officer Li Tao from the Sixth Traffic Police Brigade of Kunming City was correcting a prohibited driving violation committed by Huang Dajiang, who was driving a Yun A8P519 mini-truck at the intersection of Erhuan North Road and Wanhu Road in Panlong District. Officer Li Tao signaled Huang Dajiang to stop, but Huang ignored his command and did not stop for inspection. Officer Li Tao then pulled the door of the mini-truck driven by Huang Dajiang, who continued driving forward. Officer Li Tao was dragged for about 7-8 meters before being thrown to the ground, hitting his head and sustaining injuries (the injury was determined as serious by a forensic examination). After driving away for several meters, Huang Dajiang abandoned the vehicle and fled to the nearby Jinxing Overpass, where he was eventually caught by the arriving crowd and traffic police and handed over to the Changqing Police Station of Panlong Branch of Kunming Public Security Bureau.

Currently, the suspect Huang Dajiang has been criminally detained, and the injured police officer is receiving active treatment. (End)
