A person's resume of a lifetime

This is the resume of a person's life:

February 12, 1809 - Birthday.

1818 (age 9) - Mother passed away.

1831 (age 22) - Business failure.

1832 (age 23) - Lost election for state legislator.

Same year (age 23) - Lost job. Wanted to enter law school but was not accepted.

1833 (age 24) - Borrowed money from friends to start a business.

By the end of the same year, went bankrupt again. Afterwards, it took him 16 years to pay off his debts.

1834 (age 25) - Ran for state legislator again and won this time.

1835 (age 26) - Fiancée died shortly before their planned wedding.

1836 (age 27) - Complete mental breakdown, bedridden for six months.

1838 (age 29) - Sought to become the speaker of the state legislature - unsuccessful.

1840 (age 31) - Sought to become an elector - lost the election.
