Chrome speeds JavaScript by 30% in new browser wars battleground

Google has shifted the JavaScript engine that powers its Chrome web browser into a higher gear.

Last week Google announced an update to Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine, which coupled with a newer version of the Webkit browser engine, is expected to increase the loading speed of JavaScript-heavy web pages by up to 30%. This update will be automatically downloaded to all existing versions of Chrome.
