In order to promote the popularization of China's 3G standard - TD-SCDMA, China Mobile and Nokia have come together, with Nokia reiterating its commitment and support for TD-SCDMA.

Colin Giles, President of Nokia (China) Investment Co., Ltd., stated at the conference: "Nokia is unwavering in its support for the development of TD-SCDMA. Our goal is not only to launch TD-SCDMA products that provide consumers with an excellent user experience, but we are also committed to collaborating with operators, chip providers, development partners, and all parties involved to jointly build a vibrant TD-SCDMA ecosystem in China." Nokia's TD-SCDMA S60 smart 3G phone is expected to be released by the end of 2009.

Not long after, the internet exposed the image below, which is said to be the first Nokia TD-SCDMA S60 smart 3G phone. From the pictures, it seems to adopt a full-touchscreen design similar to the 5800XM and runs on the S60 fifth edition platform. The large screen paired with a narrow bezel design is sure to attract many enthusiasts. Of course, it is also possible that this is a slider phone, though it is not very clear from the images.
