Intel and Micron Technology on Thursday announced the jointly developed 34-nanometer, 32Gb NAND flash chip. This chip will lead to the birth of low-cost, high-capacity solid state drives. The new flash chip will be manufactured using 300mm wafers. An official from Intel stated that this is currently the most advanced manufacturing process for flash chips, which will pave the way for the advent of low-cost, high-capacity solid state drives. Intel and Micron will deliver samples in June, with mass production expected to begin in the second half of this year.
