The Shengquan Temple scenic area is located in Huairou, and has been developed as an important tourist attraction in the Huairou district over recent years. The Beijing Bailing Outward Bound Training Company has visited this scenic spot many times to take part in outdoor obstacle course activities. It is very close to central Beijing, taking only about 40 minutes by car, which is a very short distance. It is only a five-minute drive from Huairou county town. Outside the scenic area there is a super large parking lot and a restaurant that can accommodate 300 people dining simultaneously, making it an ideal venue for large group outdoor activities. The Beijing Bailing Outward Bound Training Company mainly organizes outdoor obstacle course activities here, with a total length of approximately 4 kilometers, and a beautiful route scenery.
When talking about this scenic area, we must mention the origin of its name. According to legend, long ago, the nearby village suffered from a severe water shortage, leaving the villagers without access to water. Over time, many people moved away. One day, a Taoist priest came from somewhere and decided to live on the mountain near the village. The villagers tried to persuade the priest not to move to the mountain, as there was no water even on the ground level, let alone on the mountain where it would be impossible to find water. Without water, humans could not survive on the mountain. However, the Taoist priest ignored their advice and moved to the mountain anyway.
After some time, the villagers noticed that the priest never went down the mountain to fetch water. Concerned, some kind-hearted villagers brought water up the mountain to visit him. They found that the priest was practicing Taoism day and night, unable to rest or drink water. Finally, one day, the priest succeeded in mastering his Taoist skills, and a spring appeared on the mountain, flowing slowly down to the foot of the mountain. The villagers finally had water to drink.
With water at the foot of the mountain, the villagers went up the mountain to thank the priest, but he had already disappeared. In order to commemorate the priest, the villagers named the mountain where the priest once lived "Shengquan Mountain". This is the origin of the name "Shengquan Mountain". To this day, the spring on the mountain continues to flow tirelessly down to the foot of the mountain. During our outdoor obstacle course activities, some team members have relied on the direction of the spring's flow to find their destination. There are many paths on Shengquan Mountain, avoiding congestion and chaos during activities due to a large number of small teams and limited routes. During the obstacle course map, we will pass through numerous attractions such as farm tool exhibitions, steep slopes, observation platforms, suspension bridges, temples, and high-altitude wells. Opposite Shengquan Temple, there is also a river, where nighttime riverside barbecues offer a unique charm for outward bound training companies.
