Beijing Outward Bound Training Morning Exercise Guidelines

The morning exercise segment in Beijing Outward Bound training refers to a full-body workout arranged after waking up on the second day of a two-day Outward Bound training session. Coaches from the Outward Bound company will conduct physical exercises through activities such as running and games, usually lasting about forty minutes. As the team leader of Beijing Beili Outward Bound Company, I have witnessed many teams' morning exercise processes. I find that some members dislike participating in morning exercises, thinking that these activities are arduous and tiresome, showing strong resistance. Some even skip the exercises entirely, claiming they feel unwell to the coach, giving excuses like stomach pain or fever, asking other teammates to request leave on their behalf.

Little do they know that morning exercises are beneficial for the body. They can promote metabolism, boost immunity, stimulate brain activity, enhance endurance and coordination, and cultivate a positive attitude towards life. Below is a detailed introduction to the benefits of morning exercises:

First, it's best to do morning exercises before breakfast. After eating, a large amount of blood flows to the digestive system. If you exercise right after eating, the blood will flow to the limbs instead, affecting digestion. Moreover, doing morning exercises well prepares us adequately for subsequent outward bound projects. The joints become more flexible, reducing the risk of re-injuring old injuries or causing joint damage during outward bound activities. For example, during an outward bound training session with middle and upper-level leaders from Jin Baiwan Catering, one member got injured because they didn't warm up properly during the morning exercises. Consequently, they could only sit on the sidelines watching others participate. This member mentioned that they frequently suffered from old injuries due to a severe fall while playing soccer in the past. Although X-rays at the hospital showed no bone issues, they often experienced back pain when engaging in intense activities without proper warm-ups. However, if they had warmed up thoroughly, they could have avoided re-injuring their old injury and participated normally in the outward bound activities. Unfortunately, they could only be a spectator during this training session, missing out on the experience and looking forward to the next opportunity.

Second, in case of foggy, rainy, or snowy weather, morning exercises should be moved indoors. Fog contains many harmful substances that can easily be inhaled into the body, causing adverse effects on the lungs. Roads become slippery during rain or snow, increasing the likelihood of falling and getting our clothes dirty. There's also a higher chance of catching a cold. Therefore, we should choose a sufficiently large indoor venue for morning exercises, avoiding any potential dangers brought by adverse weather conditions.

Third, since most people rarely exercise regularly, coaches will arrange exercise intensities suitable for individuals based on different physical conditions during Beijing Outward Bound training. Morning exercise sessions generally last around forty minutes, which is ideal.

Fully engaging in the morning exercise segment during outward bound activities holds significant importance for the entire program. Morning exercises ensure all joints move flexibly, preventing joint injuries. Therefore, every participant in outward bound training should actively take part in morning exercises, eliminating resistance. Whether it's morning exercises or warm-up activities before specific projects, they provide the basic safety guarantee for each member. We hope all participants take this seriously and prepare fully to ensure the successful completion of the outward bound activities.
