Sony has officially released their e-book product, the Sony Reader PRS-500. It uses electronic ink technology and can be considered a new era for electronic displays.
The text on the PRS-500 screen with electronic ink technology indeed looks like a printed material, with extremely high sharpness. Moreover, this screen is not self-luminous, so it can be read outdoors in blazing sunshine just like a newspaper. There are also no issues with viewing angles as there are with LCD screens. The 6-inch screen has 170 pixels per inch and offers four levels of adjustable grayscale. The built-in memory can store 80 e-books and can be expanded using a memory stick or SD card. The battery supports 7500 page turns. Sony has prepared the CONNECT e-bookstore specifically for e-book users to purchase various reading materials. In addition to e-books, this reader can display PDF, DOC files, blogs, news, and JPEG files with the same quality, as well as listen to MP3 or AAC music through headphones.
