John Whiting has made partner in PwC's tax department and regularly appears on financial TV shows, but he still considers himself an introvert who feels uncomfortable in social situations. "I still can't handle a room full of strangers and I'm not naturally effusive or one of those people who finds it easy to take the lead on a big client account," he says. "But while I still struggle at times, I refuse to let my natural shyness get the better of me or restrict my career."
