I feel it will be applied to the next generation of computers.

The **Multi-Touch Interaction Research** project was jointly created by Jefferson Y. Han, Philip L. Davidson, Casey M.R. Muller, and Ilya D. Rosenberg, focusing on research into multi-user, multi-touch interactive interfaces.

It is said to be an Apple patent, especially the later application of map enlargement, which indeed resembles one of Apple's development projects (a Tablet). Otherwise, I would suggest that Apple quickly acquire this technology, or if Microsoft gets interested, things could get complicated.
