At 16:40 on the 26th Beijing time, the Beijing Olympic Torch Relay in Yangzhou ended. The last torchbearer, Wang Xiuwen, lit the Sacred Flame Basin.
The Yangzhou relay route was 11 kilometers long. The starting point was at Dawa Temple, the site of the ancient Han Canal ruins, and the end point was at the Sports Park Gymnasium, fully showcasing the characteristics of a "famous cultural city, ecologically livable."
To express the support of the people of Yangzhou for the disaster victims in Sichuan, relevant departments and volunteers carried out a series of disaster relief fundraising activities along the way. After the ceremony to retrieve the sacred flame, the originally planned celebration activities were canceled. With the theme of earthquake resistance and disaster relief, there was a poetry reading with music called "China's Heart That Cannot Be Shattered by Earthquakes" and a song-and-dance performance called "Holding Up the Fire of the Sun" that displayed the Olympic spirit, highlighting the combination of the torch relay and the love relay.
