1. Home air conditioners can be cleaned and disinfected annually by professionals, especially the evaporator of the indoor unit. Qualified disinfectants and correct mixing methods must be used, and this should be done by professional personnel. After disinfection, rinse off any remaining disinfectant liquid to prevent it from evaporating and being harmful to health. During the use of the air conditioner, the filter should be cleaned frequently (just rinse with water), preferably once a week.
2. Before turning on the air conditioner, open the window for ventilation for 10 minutes to allow as much fresh outdoor air as possible to enter the room. After the air conditioner has been running for some time, turn it off and ventilate by opening the windows for 20-30 minutes, repeating this process to create an airflow between indoors and outdoors, allowing harmful gases to be expelled outside.
3. The indoor temperature is best controlled around 25℃, with the temperature difference between indoors and outdoors not exceeding 7℃; cold air outlets should not be directly aimed at people or desks.
4. Staying long-term in an air-conditioned room with low temperatures can easily cause joint pain. When moving in and out of an air-conditioned room, due to the large temperature difference between indoors and outdoors, sudden changes from cold to hot can easily result in coughing, headaches, runny noses, and other cold symptoms. Additionally, since the air conditioner's filter can adsorb negative ions from the air, increasing positive ions indoors, this can have adverse effects on the human body.
5. If air conditioners are not regularly cleaned, they will accumulate dust, fibers, and breed large amounts of bacteria, viruses, mold, mites, etc. When the air conditioner is turned on, these dust particles and pathogens are blown out by the air conditioner, causing indoor air pollution and spreading diseases. Among them, the most harmful is the legionella bacteria hidden in centralized air conditioning ventilation systems, which can cause Legionnaires' disease. Moreover, mites are strong allergens that can cause allergic asthma, dermatitis, rhinitis, etc.
6. The respiratory function of the elderly is weaker. When using air conditioners, the temperature should not be too low. In dry weather, you can use a humidifier or place a basin of water indoors. Before entering from outdoors, wipe off sweat first, and it’s best to set a timer for the air conditioner.
7. Children have lower immune functions. When using air conditioners, half an hour before going out, the air conditioner should be turned off and windows opened for ventilation to adapt to the temperature changes between indoors and outdoors.
