Joined Microsoft in 1994 as a senior manager of the Windows NT Development Department at Microsoft headquarters; promoted to General Manager of Microsoft's Global Technology Center in 2001. From March 26, 2002 to February 2004, served as President of Microsoft (China) Co., Ltd. In 1998, 2000, and 2001, he was the only employee of Microsoft who received three awards from the company – the Bill Gates President's Award for Outstanding Achievement and Outstanding Management. On February 11, 2004, he officially joined Shanda Interactive Entertainment Ltd. as President, while also being appointed Honorary President of Microsoft (China). In March 2008, he transitioned to become a director and advisor at Shanda Network Development Co., Ltd.
