Shi Yuzhu was born in 1962 in Huaiyuan County, located in the northern part of Anhui Province. In 1980, Shi Yuzhu was admitted to the Mathematics Department of Zhejiang University with the highest score in the entire county, achieving a score of 119 out of a possible 120 points in mathematics. After graduation, he was assigned to the Anhui Provincial Statistics Bureau at the age of 24. Due to his outstanding performance at work, he was selected as part of the third echelon and sent to Shenzhen University for further study.
